Therapeutic Approach
Considering making changes in your life takes courage.
Finding a professional to work with who feels like a good fit is an important part of beginning that process. I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your concerns, what you hope to accomplish, and whether working together might be a good fit. If another type of treatment or provider may better meet your needs, I am also glad to discuss other options and offer recommendations.
The Therapeutic Relationship
I strive to create a warm, open, respectful environment where you can feel comfortable bringing your experiences, questions, hopes, and concerns.
I work collaboratively with you to understand your individual circumstances and goals. Our discussions may involve exploring longstanding patterns and experiences, addressing current issues, developing practical strategies, or some combination of these.
At times, I may offer observations, questions, or perspectives that invite you to consider something in a new way or look more closely at patterns that may be affecting your life.
You will find me to be compassionate and supportive while also being thoughtful and direct. I consider the therapeutic relationship an important part of the work and welcome your feedback about what is—and isn’t—feeling helpful.
My goal is to create a supportive space where meaningful exploration, change, and growth can take place.
An Integrative and Individualized Approach
I offer an integrative approach to therapy, grounded in contemporary relational psychoanalytic and psychodynamic perspectives. This approach emphasizes psychological depth, self-understanding, and the ways our relationships and experiences shape who we are.
Depth-oriented therapy considers not only what you are experiencing now, but also the patterns, relationships, experiences, and beliefs that may be shaping how you understand yourself and move through the world.
A relational approach recognizes that our relationships—including the relationship we develop by meeting—can offer important opportunities to understand ourselves and experience new ways of relating to others.
Depending on your needs, I may also draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, emerging neuropsychoanalytic perspectives, expressive arts approaches, psychoeducation, and practical skills.
Rather than applying one approach to everyone, I tailor our work to you. Different concerns and circumstances may call for different ways of working, and our approach can evolve as your needs and goals change.
I see psychological work as a creative process, shaped by each person.
My aim is to bring together psychological depth and practical usefulness in a way that is meaningful to you.
